Media Training Sault Ste. Marie | Warren Weeks

My career in journalism started here

I grew up in Sault Ste. Marie. I wrote my first newspaper articles for the Sault Star in the 1980s while still in high school. I still have family in the city. I understand this city, its media landscape and the organizations that call it home in a way that no out-of-town media trainer ever could.

Local Roots, National Experience

That early journalism experience in the Soo set the foundation for everything that followed…three decades of media training, more than 1,500 sessions and work with organizations across every province in Canada. I've delivered numerous media training sessions to healthcare and education clients in Sault Ste. Marie and understand the local media environment from both sides of the microphone.

Every session is built from the ground up around your organization: your issues, your industry and the real pressures your spokespeople face. No generic programs. No junior trainers. Just me, fully prepared, with your team.

Sault Ste. Marie Organizations Face Real Media Pressure

Northern Ontario's media environment is tight-knit and community-focused. Reporters here know their beats deeply and cover healthcare, education, municipal government and local business with persistence and familiarity. In a city this size, how your organization handles a media situation can define its reputation for years.

Whatever your sector, preparation is what separates the organizations that handle media well from the ones that don't.

What a Session Looks Like

Every session begins with a thorough understanding of your organization. From there, we develop and stress-test your key messages as a group, then put each participant through a series of simulated media interviews in print, radio and television formats, conducted by a veteran journalist playing the role of reporter.

It's as close to the real thing as you can get. Participants leave knowing exactly how reporters think, what they're looking for and how to tell their organization's story clearly and effectively under pressure.

Sessions are available in half-day and full-day formats, for groups of any size, and for individual executives requiring focused one-on-one preparation.

Virtual Sessions Also Available

For Sault Ste. Marie organizations that prefer remote delivery, virtual sessions are available and every bit as rigorous as the in-person experience.

Let's Talk

If your organization is based in Sault Ste. Marie or the surrounding area, I'd be glad to have a conversation about your media training needs and put together a proposal for your review.
