Media Training Victoria | Warren Weeks

BC's capital city runs on government, policy and public accountability. Are your spokespeople ready?

Victoria is unlike any other city in British Columbia. The BC Legislature. Provincial ministries and Crown corporations. A substantial federal government presence. Major healthcare institutions. A growing technology sector. And a press corps — CBC Vancouver Island, CHEK News, the Times Colonist — that covers government and public sector organizations with tenacity and depth.

When your organization is in the spotlight, your spokespeople need to be ready.

The good news: I come to you.

Serving Victoria and All of British Columbia

I've worked extensively with organizations across British Columbia and regularly travel to the province to deliver media training sessions. Victoria clients operate in one of Canada's most distinctive media environments, a city where government accountability, public sector communications and policy scrutiny intersect daily.

Every session I deliver in Victoria is built from the ground up around your organization — your issues, your industry and the real pressures your spokespeople face. No generic programs. No junior trainers. Just me, fully prepared, with your team.

Victoria Organizations Face Unique Media Pressures

As BC's capital, Victoria is where provincial policy is made and where the media covers it most closely. Provincial ministries and Crown corporations navigate Access to Information requests, legislative scrutiny and a press gallery that knows how to dig. Healthcare organizations operate under intense public accountability in a system under constant pressure. Technology companies in the growing Victoria tech sector are increasingly attracting media attention as they scale. Non-profits and associations operating on a provincial stage are regularly called upon to speak to policy debates that affect all of BC.

Whatever your sector, preparation is what separates the organizations that handle media well from the ones that don't.

What a Session Looks Like

Every session begins with a thorough understanding of your organization — your issues, your industry and what your spokespeople are likely to face. From there, we develop and stress-test your key messages as a group, then put each participant through a series of simulated media interviews — print, radio and television formats — conducted by a veteran journalist playing the role of reporter.

It's as close to the real thing as you can get. Participants leave knowing exactly how reporters think, what they're looking for and how to tell their organization's story clearly and effectively under pressure.

Sessions are available in half-day and full-day formats, for groups of any size, and for individual executives requiring focused one-on-one preparation.

Virtual Sessions Also Available

For Victoria-based organizations that prefer remote delivery, virtual sessions are available and every bit as rigorous as the in-person experience. Ideal for organizations with teams spread across Vancouver Island or the broader province.

Let's Talk

If your organization is based in Victoria or anywhere in British Columbia, I'd be glad to have a conversation about your media training needs and put together a proposal. No obligation, no sales pressure.
