/I sold my first newspaper article to The Sault Star in my hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario when I was in my teens. I still remember the thrill. Not the small cheque, although that was a pleasant surprise, but the realization that words assembled with care and skill could be worth something to others. Years later, that spark would send me to Journalism school, to jobs in print and broadcast media and, ultimately, more than three decades in media relations. I've observed the Canadian media from many angles over the years and I'm telling you that something has gone very wrong, slowly enough that most Canadians haven't noticed it.
